Based in Danvers, Mass., the General Lighting unit manufactures incandescent, fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lamps at seven plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It provides general and specialty sales, marketing and distribution services throughout the U.S. to industrial, commercial and retail customers and to original equipment and other lamp manufacturers. This business unit also has a centralized customer support organization located in Westfield, Ind.
The General Lighting business unit has five sales channels. The Industrial Commercial group markets a wide variety of SYLVANIA lamps and ballasts, which are sold to industrial and commercial customers through a nationwide network of independent electrical distributors. Consumer Products sells SYLVANIA household lamps through retail stores to residential customers. The Special Markets channel is responsible for specialty manufacturers and distributors, other manufacturers, and export while the OEM, or original equipment manufacturer, channel sells lamps and ballasts to fixture manufacturers.
