The department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the newest departments in Texas. It is housed in a modern Engineering Building, has excellent faculty and modern laboratory facilities where students receive hands-on instruction. Computer-Aided Design/Engineering (CAD/CAE) facilities, including state-of-the-art workstations, are routinely used in all programs.

The BSME program is fully accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET). Our programs teach students the fundamentals of engineering as well as modern applications. Students enrolled in our degree programs develop a strong background in engineering science and acquire the analytical and synthetic skills and tools that are necessary to enable them to function as practicing engineers or to continue their studies and research with advanced degrees.
